Rowena… Andrew’s thoughts
Rowena is the beating heart of Business to Arts and has been Director of Marketing and PR since 2004. The longest serving member of the organisation, Rowena holds all the knowledge and experience of the past that informs our future. Before joining the organisation, Rowena worked in a number of roles over 17 years at The Irish Museum of Modern Art, the last 5 as Head of Sponsorship & Fundraising where she worked to develop new income streams for the museum.

Rowena is a wizard of event management and organisation. Over the past five years she has developed the Allianz Business to Arts Awards into the Best Event and Best Awards Ceremony in Ireland which was confirmed by the Event Industry Awards in 2009. She also organises a busy series of arts-based events for our members which underlines our philosophy that the arts provide a relaxed platform for developing opportunities for business and arts professionals.

She was Business to Arts’ lead for the National Arts Sponsorship Survey in 2006 and edits various publications including our magazine ‘Create, Collaborate, Partner’. Her knowledge of the arts sponsorship market is second to none. Combine this with her arts background and on-going role consulting on art sponsorships, means she is often asked to speak and contribute to articles on sponsorship, fundraising, marketing the arts and developing audiences.

In her spare time she practices what she preaches. As well as sitting on the Dublin Advisory Group of Common Purpose, she in on the committee for the David Manley Emerging Entrepreneur Awards, does some work with Social Entrepreneurs Ireland and is on the Jury Panel for the Museum of the Year Awards run by the Heritage Council. In 2006, before cultural tourism was a buzz word, she chaired the Cultural Tourism Committee which contributed to the Tourism Strategy that was developed and adopted by Dublin Chamber of Commerce.
