The Business Challenge
In 2007, an audit of Allianz Ireland’s training strategy was carried out and from the feedback, some areas for improvements were identified. One of the main areas they sought to address was that their people had experienced enough of the traditional ‘talk and chalk’ training courses and needed a fresh, innovative and challenging delivery model.
The Solution
In partnership with Fishamble Theatre Company and People Create, Allianz developed and implemented an executive development and customer service program which uses forum theatre for its delivery. Forum theatre involves researching and writing bespoke scenarios drawn from Allianz’s working environment. Using a team of writers and actors, the audience plays an active role in developing real-life scenarios where management theory can be implemented.
Benefits to Company
Allianz’s new learning strategy uses a more facilitative and dialogical approach to training for their people. Subsequent reaction data has shown positive swings in customer feedback and participants stated that they found the workshops practical, useful and relevant to their roles. They also loved it because it was different!

Using the skills of the theatre sector, the Fishamble and their associated artists have developed a new income stream which will help fund their ambitions and vision.
