Introduced to the Business to Arts Awards in 2008 in honour of the founder of TileStyle, the late Jim McNaughton, TileStyle proudly sponsor the Jim McNaughton Perpetual Award for Best Commissioning Practice. Each year this perpetual award is given to a company or organisation that have shown innovation, imagination, excellence, and good practice in the commissioning process.

Throughout their history TileStyle’s commitment to supporting the arts has been unwavering and through this perpetual award they are encouraging and rewarding others who share in this ethos.

Winners of the award have included local authorities and county councils, national organisations and transport agencies, as well as private companies working alone or in some cases as joint commissioners. The award recognises commissioning across all art forms, which has resulted in artwork that can be enjoyed and explored by all.

Counterpoint was sculpted by Jason Ellis in Kilkenny limestone on a base of white marble, designed to convey the principals of successful collaboration. The sculpture takes the simple idea of two separate entities that are held together in a symbolic and mutually beneficial relationship.
