
Allianz Business to Arts Awards 2011
Award Category Winners
As well as arts sponsorship, the Allianz Business to Arts Awards embrace and recognise examples of arts and business organisations working together in areas such as mentoring, training, staff development, commissioning artists and CSR initiatives.
The winners in 2011 are:
1. Best Large Sponsorship (value over €25,000 cash or in-kind)
Winner: BNP Paribas & The Irish Museum of Modern Art for ‘The Moderns’ exhibition
Awarded to a business or organisation that has worked with an arts organisation or artist(s) in a sponsorship relationship with a value over €25,000, whether made up of cash, in-kind support, or both.
2. Best Small Sponsorship (value under €25,000 cash or in-kind)
Winner: Barry & Fitzwilliam for the Corona Fastnet Short Film Festival
Awarded to a business or organisation that has worked with an arts organisation or artist(s) in a sponsorship relationship with a value under €25,000, whether made up of cash, in-kind support, or both.
3. Best Use of Creativity in the Workplace
Winner: Google Ireland & Arts Audiences
Awarded to a business or organisation that has worked with an arts organisation or artist(s) in an innovative and mutually beneficial way, bringing creativity into the workplace. This will be a project that uses the imagination, innovation or creativity of artists or the arts in a business context, such as for staff development, work/life balance, marketing, communication etc.
4. Best Use of Creativity in the Community
Winner: Carlow Local Authorities for their commissioning of Fergus Sheil for ‘Shelter Me From the Rain’ with support from Carlow County Council VEC & Seven Oaks Hotel
For a socially and culturally responsible project that results in engagement by a community in the arts.
5. The Jim McNaughton Perpetual Award for Best Commissioning Practice
Winner: Cavan County Council & DV4 Digital Media for ‘Casting Light’ by John Byrne
Rewarding excellence and good practice in the commissioning process by companies and other organisations.
6. The Jim McNaughton / TileStyle Bursary for Commissioned Artists
Winner: Denis Roche for ‘Open Window’, a project with the Bone Marrow for Leukemia Trust
A €10,000 bursary awarded to an artist gaining experience in the field of commissioning or partnering with business or other organisations to deliver innovative arts programmes. The award is intended to contribute to the development of the artist’s craft or practice.
7. Dublin Airport Authority €5,000 Arts Award
Winner: Pure Thinking Community Group from Carlow
Recognising great relationship management, and imagination and creativity in working with the corporate community.
8. Judges’ Special Recognition
Winner: Bank of America Merrill Lynch for their relationships with National Gallery of Ireland, the Irish Museum of Modern Art, the Chester Beatty Library and the ‘New Stream’ programme run by Business to Arts.
For a relationship which stood out from all others in terms of impact, innovation and creativity.
