PFGi and Poetry Ireland / Éigse Éireann Launch New Poetry Award

5 June 2026

Inaugural €7,000 award supports creation of new poetic work through cross-disciplinary partnership.

We're delighted to facilitate the new PFGi Poetry Award 2026, a partnership between PFGi and Poetry Ireland / Éigse Éireann that invites poets to explore the relationship between engineering, creativity and language.

The inaugural award includes a €5,000 bursary and €2,000 commission for a poet based in Ireland, supporting the development of new work through this unique cross-disciplinary initiative.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, 26th June.

The selected poet will be announced in Summer 2026, with the commissioned work developed over the following months and a public unveiling anticipated in early 2027. As part of the programme, the poet may engage with PFGi through site visits, conversations or research to inform their work.

The award reflects a shared belief that engineering and poetry, while often viewed as distinct disciplines, are both grounded in imagination, structure, and the shaping of ideas into form. Through this initiative, PFGi and Poetry Ireland / Éigse Éireann aim to create space for dialogue between disciplines, inviting a poet to respond to themes that connect technical precision with human experience.

PFGi believes that engineering and creativity are deeply connected. Both begin with curiosity, require imagination, and seek to transform ideas into something meaningful and lasting. Through this partnership with Poetry Ireland, we are proud to support artists in exploring new perspectives on how people, technology and creativity intersect. We look forward to seeing how the selected poet responds to these themes and to sharing that work with a wider audience.”

Connecting poetry and people is central to our mission, and initiatives such as this provide a welcome opportunity for poets to engage where the practice of poetry and the future of technology might intersect, providing artistry and imagination that can lift the experiences of all that engage with it.
