Irish Life ' Future Dublin' Mural
A collaborative project between Irish Life, artist Shannon Jade Wilson (AKA The Meditative Creative) and Scoil Chaoimhín to imagine what a 'future Dublin' means to them.
When Irish Life began planning for the refurbishment of their campus in Dublin 1, they wanted to transform the construction hoarding that would run along Marlborough Street into a bright, vibrant mural that connected to the community around them.
Business to Arts works directly with Irish Life's art committee to scope, manage, and deliver all creative and cultural projects related to the organisation.
Business to Arts presented a long list of artists whose practice in community engagement met the objectives of this Brief. The Irish Life Art Committee identified the artist Shannon Jade Wilson who had experience in delivering workshops to children that combined mindfulness with creativity.
Working with Irish Life's construction company, Walls, it was identified that the best way to approach the commission was by painting directly onto the mural. Shannon conducted two workshops for all the children in Scoil Chaoimhín. The first workshop introduced them to the concept of murals and how they could be created, and the second was to help them tap into their inner creativity and co-design a mural that represented their vision for a 'future Dublin'. Shannon combined all the children's ideas, creating an artwork that represented a shared vision of their future city.
Business to Arts acted as artist and client liaison throughout the process ensuring that Irish Life's objectives were met and the artist was supported in delivering the project on time.
